Basic Energy Corp. (BEC) announced that the Wind Energy Service Contract (WESC) of the Ilocos Nearshore Wind Power Project has secured an approval from the Department of Energy (DOE).
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Thursday, Nov. 7, the DOE’s approval would allow BEC to explore, develop, and utilize the wind energy sources within the Wind Power area.
Basic Energy shared that it was looking forward to developing the Ilocos Nearshore Wind Power, stating that “Covered by [WESC No. 2023-08-310], the Ilocos Norte WESC is the latest addition to Basic Energy’s growing portfolio of wind projects.”
According to the company, over 5,502.54 hectares of the area have been appointed to them by the DOE to work on the wind energy resources.
Because of this, Basic Energy will soon deploy the necessary materials for the wind resource assessment campaign.
This will be done in order to validate the wind regime in the area.
BEC also said that the wind project in Ilocos Norte is anticipated to generate and deliver power to the grid with around 90 to 112 megawatts (MW) of power, based on a 4-model simulation.
The publicly listed holding company hopes to be the leading developer of alternative and RE, oil and allied power in the Philippines.
They take on various fields of renewable energy (RE) and alternative fuels, oil and gas exploration, and other developments.
Meanwhile, Basic Energy’s common stock outstanding totaled 14.6 billion during its recent report.
