Go Lokal!, a free-market access platform for Philippine micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), generated P656.29 million in sales, and assisted 517 MSMEs as of September of this year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reported Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Launched in Dec. 2016, Go Lokal! was able to rollout 160 outlets nationwide, although only 112 retail stores survived the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a continuing program under the DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP), remains committed to empowering Filipino MSMEs and fostering a thriving retail landscape.

DTI said that it counts on the continued support of its partner-retailers for collective growth.

Meanwhile, Go Lokal!’s retail partners and store operators were recognized during the FlexPinoy: Saludo sa Go Lokal! Retail Partners appreciation ceremony recently held at the DTI Head Office in Makati City.

The DTI-BDTP recognized them for their significant contributions to the continued success and growth of the innovative market access program.

Special recognition awards were given to Enchanted Kingdom, Robinson Supermarket Corporation, CANDC Plants and Wood Crafts, and PopJunkLove Enterprises for their successful management of Go Lokal retail outlets, pop-up events, and social media initiatives.

All current retail partners also received certificates of appreciation during the event.

“In 2016, the visionary team behind Go Lokal embarked on a journey to champion Filipino craftsmanship. Over the years, Go Lokal has evolved into a beacon of hope and success for countless MSMEs,” DTI-Regional Operations Group (ROG) Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona said in her keynote message.

“It has become a platform where innovative Filipino products and compelling stories meet the eager hearts of consumers, both locally and across the globe,” she added.

For her part, DTI-BDTP Director Marievic M. Bonoan, the main proponent of the program, expressed her gratitude to the Go Lokal retail partners, stating that their support has contributed to the “nurturing and scaling of local businesses and industries.”
