A Chinese man, tagged as the suspect in the kidnapping of a Chinese businesswoman, was arrested by members of the Pasay City Police Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the suspect identified as Xin, 32 and a resident of Gagalangin, Tondo Manila, was arrested at around 4:45 p.m. in a gas station located along Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City.
Police said Xin was one of the suspects who befriended the victim on Nov. 23 after losing from a casino in Parañaque.
Xin together with another suspect named "Alex", a Malaysian national, convinced Sun to transfer to another casino hotel.
They then kidnapped and illegally detained the victim inside a hotel where she was physically assaulted and demanded her family P1,640,000 for her release.
The police said the suspects also took Sun’s IPhone 14 amounting P40,000 and her Omega watch worth P80,000.
The SPD said that in a follow-up operation, Xin was spotted by members of IDMS but the suspect, in trying to elude the arrest, bumped the police mobile of the arresting officers.
Despite the mobile being damaged, the lawmen successfully blocked the suspect’s car leading to his arrest.
It was then found out that Xin is tagged as a high value individual (HVI) and was allegedly a supplier of illegal drugs to fellow Chinese who are Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers in the country.
Police recovered from the suspect were two pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, three small colored red tablets, a broken red tablet and sky blue tablet suspected to be ecstasy placed inside a transparent plastic sachets and plastic pipes.
Charges of assault upon an agent of a person in authority, attempted homicide, reckless imprudence resulting in damage of government property, and possession of illegal drugs were filed against the suspect.
