Chavez will have the rank of undersecretary in his new capacity.
The announcement was made through the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), and a letter dated Dec. 5 showed the official’s new appointment.
“Pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, you are hereby appointed Presidential Assistant for Strategic Communications, with the rank of undersecretary, Office of the President,” the letter read.
“By virtue hereof, you may qualify and perform the duties of the office, furnishing the Office of the President and the Civil Service Commission with copies of your Oath of Office,” it added.
The letter was signed by President Marcos and addressed to Chavez through the Special Assistant to the President.
In October last year, Chavez admitted that he was being eyed by the Marcos administration as the new press secretary.
Also on Wednesday, Malacañang announced the appointments of Mary Jean Pacheco as undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Michel Kristian Ablan as assistant secretary.
Jeremy Regino was also named as undersecretary for the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
