Add a playful touch to your holiday 'fits with these Hello Kitty timepieces

Saying that Filipinos are big-time fans of Japanese culture is a major understatement. Our love for all things Japanese spans from anime and manga to food and street-style fashion. Another thing many Filipinos are obsessed about is the charming fictional character Hello Kitty.

Created in the 1970s by Yuko Shimizu and owned by Japanese company Sanrio, the anthropomorphized white cat is loved by many for its sense of kawaii. Through the years, the character had numerous collaborations with various fashion brands. The latest one to imbue its pieces with the Hello Kitty aesthetic is timepiece brand Axis.

For the holiday season, the brand is gifting Hello Kitty fans, young and old, joy and nostalgia through its latest collaboration collection. The Axis x Hello Kitty collection features five designs in red and black genuine leather straps and gold, silver, and rose gold metal straps. The dial has a minimalist look, which prominently highlights the symbols and images of the beloved Sanrio character.

The collaboration collection was launched last November. Marking the unveiling of the collection was the opening of the brand’s Christmas Town exhibit at The Block, SM City North EDSA. With the theme “2Gether,” Axis created a holiday wonderland filled with family-friendly activities and IG-worthy backdrops. One of the highlights of the exhibit is the display of its timepieces, including its collaboration with Hello Kitty.

The Axis x Hello Kitty collection is at Watch Republic retail shops and SM stores nationwide. Its Christmas Town exhibit runs until Dec. 6.
