4,864 vehicles apprehended nationwide as LTO steps up 'No Registration, No Travel' policy

A total of 4,864 motor vehicles were apprehended in the continuing strict enforcement of “No Registration, No Travel” policy of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) across the country.

LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said the apprehension figure is for the entire month of November this year since he ordered the strict implementation of the policy after the agency’s data revealed that around 24.7 million motor vehicles, which represents around 65 percent of total vehicles in the country, have expired registration.

And for Mendoza, this should serve as a stern warning to all delinquent motor vehicle owners to register their motorcycles and cars.

“We appeal again to all  delinquent motor vehicles to voluntarily renew the registration of their motor vehicles. Do not wait for you to be apprehended because this would mean that you will shell out more money,” said Mendoza.

Based on the briefing memorandum submitted to the office of the LTO Chiefs, Region II, or the Cagayan Valley Region, have the most number of apprehended delinquent motor vehicles with 657, followed by Region VIII (Eastern Visayas) with 531, and Region IV-B (MIMAROPA) with 514.

In Mindanao, a total of 386 delinquent motor vehicles were apprehended in Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula), followed by Region XI (Davao Region) with 357, and Region XII (Central Mindanao) with 250.

In Metro Manila, a total of 251 delinquent motor vehicles were apprehended.

Mendoza said strategic operations will be conducted especially in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and CALABARZON (Cavite, Lafuna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon)—the three regions with the most number of delinquent motor vehicles based on the LTO data.

Earlier, Mendoza ordered all LTO Regional Directors and heads of District and Extension Licensing Offices to set up priority lanes for those who would voluntarily renew their motor vehicles with more than a year of expired registration.
