Suspected Cebu City pawnshop robbery mastermind hurdles 2023 Bar
CEBU CITY – “Congratulations my son.”
Those were the first words that Celsa Geverola, 65, said when she was able to talk to her son Jigger over the phone.
Jigger was behind bars when he knew on Tuesday, December 5, that he passed the Bar examination.

He is currently detained at the Cebu City Police Office after he was accused of masterminding the robbery of a pawnshop here on November 25.
Jigger was arrested three days following the robbery after he was identified by two other arrested suspects as the one who instructed them to bring the suspected getaway vehicle to a mountainous area in Argao town, Cebu.
Celsa said Jigger was immediately visited by his wife in his detention cell when they learned that Jigger was one of the 3,812 law graduates who passed the 2023 Bar examination.
“He was just laughing. He said that we should slaughter pigs when he gets out of jail,” Celsa said in Cebuano during an interview with MyTV Cebu.
Celsa insisted that her eldest son had nothing to do with the crime. “I hope that his name will be cleared,” said Celsa.
She said Jigger becoming a lawyer is a big achievement for the family.
Celsa admitted that her son was previously jailed. After he was released, Jigger decided to study law so he could help other people once he becomes a lawyer.
Meanwhile, a graduate of the Cebu City-based university made it to the Top 10 in the annual examination administered by the Supreme Court.
Paulo Batulan, a graduate of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, ranked eighth with a 88.25 percent rating.
