Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, announced that the number of crime incidents in the city dropped by 65.15 percent from September to December this year.
The QCPD recorded 23 incidents of eight focus crimes -- murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car and motorcycle theft -- from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3. This shows a 65.15 percent decrease from the 66 incidents logged from Sept. 11 to 17.
Maranan lauded the efforts of his men in bringing down the number of crime incidents.
He specifically lauded the two major operations of the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) and Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) last Dec. 2.
The first operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a carnapped vehicle in Quezon City.
Maranan said the successful operation of the District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) led to the neutralization of the leader of the Bayawak Group in Bacoor City, Cavite.
The suspect was involved in a series of robbery-holdup incidents in various establishments such as convenience stores in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region 4A.
The QCPD Public Information Office (PIO) said that the successful operations have made significant contributions to the crime reduction in the city.
“Sa tagumpay na ito, nais kong pasalamatan ang bawat isa sa inyo sa inyong sakripisyo, dedikasyon, at pagmamahal sa ating propesyon at komunidad. Ang ating misyon ay makapagbigay ng inspirasyon at mas mahusay pa na serbisyo upang paglingkuran ang ating bayan. Ang inyong dedikasyon ay naglalarawan ng tunay na makabagong pulis sa makabagong panahon (In this success, I want to thank each one of you for your sacrifice, dedication, and love for our profession and community. Our mission is to inspire and provide even better service to our nation. Your dedication exemplifies the true modern police officer in this modern era),” Maranan said.
