Lagman teases De Lima's poltical future; says she's LP spox for now

Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman revealed on Tuesday, Dec. 5 former senator Leila de Lima's new role in the Liberal Party (LP), even a he teased something about the latter's political future.

According to LP President Lagman, De Lima has been designated as the official spokesperson of the party during a management committee meeting Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.

"De Lima, who has been a long-standing member of the [LP], committed to resume her active role in advocating and enhancing the party’s advocacy on good governance, social justice and liberalism," said Lagman.

"She has not revealed, however, her future political plans pending thorough consultation with allies and kin," added then veteran congressman from Bicol.

De Lima, who is also a Bicol native, been previously been appointed as LP vice president for policy, platform, and advocacy.

De Lima was released on bail last Nov. 13 after spending over six years in police detention. She was slapped with drug charges during the previous Duterte administration.

She also previously served as Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary.
