25 dead in Antique bus plunge


ILOILO CITY – At least 25 people were reportedly killed after a bus fell off a cliff in Hamtic town, Antique province on Tuesday, December 5.

Authorities have yet to release the names of the victims as of posting time.

The victims were among the more than 50 individuals onboard a Ceres bus which overshot the barrier of a zigzag road in Barangay Igbucagay at past 4 p.m.

The Antique provincial government in a 9 p.m. report said there were 10 survivors were and more than 10 remain missing.

At least 10 were taken to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) in the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista.

The Antique Provincial Risk Reduction Management Office are leading rescue operations and retrieval operations for those missing.

Initial report said the bus was on its way to Pandan, the northernmost town of Antique, from this city when the accident happened.

Antique Gov. Rhodora Cadiao and Vice Gov. Edgar Denosta immediately went to the ASMGH to provide assistance to families of casualties and survivors.
