Zubiri said senators want to be briefed on the situation regarding the Sunday blast that claimed four lives and injured more than 40 people.
The explosion occurred at the Dimaporo Gymnasium inside MSU while there was an ongoing Advent mass for worshipping Christians around 7 a.m., said Major General Gabriel Viray III, commander of the 1st Infantry Division (1ID).
Three females and one male mass attendees were immediately killed in the incident while at least 50 others were injured - 42 were brought to Amai Pakpak Medical Center while eight were rushed to the MSU Infirmary.
Zubiri appealed to those who were listening during the plenary session not to be cowed by the incident and to continue with their daily life and show the perpetrators that they are not afraid.
"We will continue to stand up against violence," Zubiri added.
The senator said that the was heartbroken by what happened and brought up how they worked hard for the Bangsamoro Organic Law which they saw as a political solution "to what they would like as a just and lasting peace."
He said that passing this law gave them the autonomy that they had sought for so long. Zubiri added that they even created a Supreme Court for them to show respect for their religious beliefs and culture.
He mentioned these as he appealed to the Bangsamoro Government to locate the suspects behind the bombing.
"If they are foreign in nature, mas mabuti (that's a lot better). Utilize the Bureau of Immigration and all our assets and intelligence officers and make sure we apprehend these individuals immediately because they do not represent their religion," Zubiri said.
“As a fellow Mindanaoan, I can only hope and pray that our area, our land in the South will continue to flourish due to peace and all the peace efforts we are doing for our country men there. And I hope and pray that we continue the efforts and not slow down these efforts because of this tragic incident,” he added.
