Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong believes that there's "something wrong" with Philippine authorities' intelligence-gathering.

Adiong, an assistant minority leader in the House of Representatives, made this comment on the heels of the deadly bombing of the Mindanao State University (MSU) campus in Marawi City over the weekend.

"I think something is wrong with our intelligence gathering. So kaya nga by next appropriations, gusto kong i-raise itong intelligence funds, kung saan nagagamit (So that’s why by next appropriations, I want to raise the topic of intelligence funds, and where it is used)," he said in a chance interview Monday, Dec. 4.

Adiong also expressed frustration that his region had been "taking all the punches".

"Kasi kami yung nabibiktima (We are being victimized). I don’t know with the rest of the areas of the country pero (but) we are taking all the punches, ang Marawi at (and) Lanao del Sur, " the Mindanaoan said.

"So baka ako dun ako mag-focus (So I might focus there), how do we conduct intelligence here, how do you utilize these funds. Kasi itong mga ito, lapses in security (Because these are lapses in security)," Adiong said.

At least four people died and dozens were left wounded after a bomb went off at MSU on Sunday morning, Dec. 3.
