PH Red Cross provides continuous support to victims of Marawi bombing
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon offered its organization continuous support on Monday, Dec. 4, to the families of the victims of the Marawi bombing incident.

In a statement, Gordon assured the public that the organization will continue supporting the victims and their families despite the challenging situation.
“Rest assured that despite this complex and challenging situation, PRC staff and volunteers will remain on the ground and actively support the victims and their families,” Gordon said.
After the bombing incident, the PRC mobilized its staff and volunteers to establish welfare desks and offer psychosocial support to traumatized students.
The first aid sessions were also conducted to address the medical needs of the 302 students who were inside the theater during the attack, as well as other students moving to the MSU IIT Gym.
The PRC also provided eight units of blood to a victim who had to undergo surgery and is prepositioning blood to help others in need.
“We also have health caravans while our other volunteers and staff visit dormitories on the campus to assist students with their hygiene needs and hot meals,” he added.
Moreover, Gordon commended the quick action of PRC volunteers and staff who responded to the incident.
“I commend the quick action of our volunteers and staff composed of Sheila S. Compuesto, Joshua Aaron Hubahib, Remia Salon, Emily Orbon, Michael Orbita, Shrine Salvador, and Marry Duffy Almona,” he said.
The explosion occurred at the Dimaporo Gymnasium inside the Mindanao State University (MSU) while there was an ongoing Advent mass for worshipping Christians around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, — where four people were killed, while several others were hurt.
