'Not a problem': Romualdez guarantees rehab funds for quake-hit Surigao del Sur

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has practically guaranteed the availability of whatever funds Surigao del Sur would need in terms of its recovery and rehabilitation from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck the provinces.
In a chance interview following the traditional Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at the House of Representatives! Monday night, Dec. 4. Romualdez told reporters that there would be "no problem" regarding the funds.
This assurance from the House chief is crucial, given that the Bicameral Conference Committee meetings on the P5.768-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB) or national budget for 2024 has already begun.
"Well, between the President’s funds and that what we can raise we will make whatever is needed available so that’s not a problem," Romualdez said when asked if Surigao del Sur's budget needs would make it to the bicam and before the 2024 GAB's enactment.

"We will make whatever funds available for...of the casualties," Romualdez said.
The powerful earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Saturday night, Dec. 2.
After this, Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel said he would personally seek Romualdez's help in terms of the province's rehabilitation.
