Magnitude 5.7 aftershock jolts Cagwait, Surigao del Sur — Phivolcs

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Sur at 10:38 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

This is an aftershock of the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur that occurred early Monday morning, Phivolcs said.

The aftershock was traced 90 kilometers southeast of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur, and was shallow at 10 kilometers beneath the epicenter, it added.

Phivolcs’ recorded the quake at Intensity II (slightly felt) in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

The tectonic quake may not cause any damage, it said.
