MGen financial chief joins SP New Energy

Solar Philippines New Energy Corp. (SPNEC), a subsidiary of Solar Philippines, appointed Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) chief financial officer (CFO) Rochel Donato Garcia as its new treasurer and officer.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Dec. 5, SPNEC’s board of directors welcomed Gloria to the energy corp., along with two new officers.

Gloria works for the MGen subsidiary, Business Power Corp. (GBP) as its CFO.

Before joining Meralco’s subsidiaries, he was Vice President and Head of Business Development and Corporate Planning for First Philec, Inc., a transformer solutions company.

He was also part of Aboitiz Power Corp. as its First VP and Head for Energy Trading.

“[Gloria] is a seasoned executive bringing in 37 years of leadership experience in corporate finance, business development, and marketing from various industries, including energy, telecommunications, and private equity, among others,” SPNEC said.

In addition to this, Aresty M. Lapitan, SP New Energy’s Head of Controllership, has moved to being Assistant Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Because of this, Alicia G. Brion has taken Lapitan’s place.

Before joining Meralco’s Green Corp., she held different senior leadership positions in accounting and audit at Bauang Private Power Corp., AmTrust Financial Holdings, and LC Diaz and Co., an accounting firm.

Their newly assigned areas have been effective since Nov. 30.

Meanwhile, SP New Energy reported its current common stock outstanding reached 34.37 billion.
