Iloilo City mayor recovering from angioplasty

ILOILO CITY – Mayor Jerry Treñas is recovering from angioplasty over the weekend at The Medical City Iloilo here.

Daughter Raisa Treñas-Chu confirmed on Monday, December 4, that his father had the procedure.

He is in good condition and has been transferred to a regular room, she said.

The angioplasty procedure that opens blocked coronary arteries caused by coronary artery disease was performed days after he was quarantined for contracting shingles, a painful, usually itchy, rash that develops on one side of the face or body.

Chu said follow-up laboratory tests and an angiogram revealed the condition of the arteries of her father’s heart.

Doctors found a blocked artery and recommended angioplasty, she said.

Chu thanked the people here for extending their well-wishes to her father.

Treñas turned 67 on Monday and she revealed his birth anniversary wish.

“Ang iya nga birthday wish...nga malab-ot ta gid ang tanan nga handom para sa syudad (His birthday wish is that all the goals and dreams of the city will be reached),” she added.
