DOH issues warning vs 'false' diabetes medication endorsement
The Department of Health (DOH) issued a stern warning to the public on Monday, Dec. 4, regarding a misleading post circulating on social media.

The post falsely claimed that Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergiere endorsed a specific brand of medication for diabetes.
"The DOH clarifies that no statement has been made by the department and its officials," the department said.
Expressing concern over the potential consequences of such misinformation, the health department underscored that false endorsements of medical products could have severe implications for public health.
To reduce the spread of misinformation, the DOH warned that criminal charges may be pressed if the misleading post continues to circulate.
It urged the public to rely only on information from legitimate sources and platforms, such as the official channels of the DOH.
The health department stressed that accurate and reliable information about health matters can be accessed through the department's official links and social media handles.
It remained vigilant in its commitment to ensuring the public's access to accurate and trustworthy health information.
