The local government units (LGUs) of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (Camanava) and Quezon cities were awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of interior and Local Government (DILG) for their excellent implementation and delivery of programs for their constituents.
The SGLG is a recognition-based program of the DILG that continues to uphold its commitment in bringing about people-oriented reforms to enable the local government units to foster a culture of good governance amid the challenges in the local government landscape.

The LGUs underwent assessment conducted by the DILG that focuses on their best practices in 10 areas, including financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan congratulated the local government and its constituents for the city's seventh SGLG.
"Patunay po ang ika-pitong SGLG na natanggap ng ating lungsod sa walang patid na pagkilos ng pamahalaang lungsod upang mapaunlad ang Caloocan, kasabay pa ng tiwala at suporta ng mga mamamayan sa lahat ng ating mga ginagawa (The seventh SGLG received by our city is proof of the continuous action of the city government to develop Caloocan, along with the trust and support of the citizens in all our activities)," Malapitan said.
"Gayunpaman, hindi po dahil sa award kaya natin pinapaganda ang ating mga serbisyo. Ang lahat ng ito, lagi't-lagi para bigyan ng magandang buhay ang mga Batang Kankaloo (However, it is not because of the award that we can improve our services. We have all of these because we always want to give a good life to Batang Kankaloo," he added.
Meanwhile, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said that the award serves as a proof of the city government's continuous delivery of honest and quality services to the residents
She also thanked the employees of the city government and vowed to continue providing quality services to the Malabueños.
The Quezon City government also shared that the award for this year is the second SGLG it received while under the leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte.
"Ang parangal na ito ay magsisilbing inspirasyon upang patuloy na pagsumikapan ng ating Pamahalaang Lungsod ang pagsusulong ng malinis, tapat, at mahusay na pamamahala para sa bawat QCitizen (This award will serve as an inspiration for our City Government to continue to strive to promote clean, honest, and efficient governance for every QCitizen)," the city government said.
The local government units of Navotas and Valenzuela were also recognized with the SGLG for their commitment to uphold good practices in serving the residents of the cities.
A total of 493 LGUs in the country were recognized by the national agency with the award for the year 2023. The awarding ceremony of the SGLG to the winning city governments will be held on Dec. 13-14.
