Former senator Leila de Lima said the allegations of Arturo Lascañas, a former Davao policeman and Davao Death Squad (DDS) hitman, should be investigated.
Lascañas, in an interview with Vera Files, made claims and linked former President Rodrigo Duterte to illegal drugs.

De Lima, who was a sitting senator when she was jailed under the Duterte administration in February 2017, said the information provided by Lascañas warrants investigation.
“This explosive revelation from former Davao policeman and self-confessed Davao Death Squad (DDS) hitman Arturo Lascañas warrants serious and immediate investigation,” she said in a statement.
She added, “Ako na nagpa-imbestiga sa pekeng War on Drugs ang ipinakulong at ginawa nilang distraction. Talagang wala silang totoo at big-time drug lords na mahuhuli dahil protektado at kasosyo pala nila (I, who investigated the fake War on Drugs, was jailed and was made their distraction. Indeed they will not catch true and big-time drug lords because they are protecting them and are business partners).”
“Indeed, Truth has a way of finding the light of day,” said De Lima, who was released on Nov. 13 after six years and eight months of detention when a Muntinlupa judge granted her bail.
