Aftershocks from 7.4-magnitude quake rise to 1,600 — Phivolcs
The number of aftershocks from the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Surigao del Sur has risen to 1,692 on Monday morning, Dec. 4, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Of the recorded aftershocks, Phivolcs said 340 were plotted by at least three seismic stations.
The detected and recorded plotted earthquakes allow for the determination of the earthquake's magnitude, location, and depth of focus in addition to its date and time of occurrence.
Meanwhile, 18 aftershocks were felt ranging from magnitude 1.4 to magnitude 6.6, said Phivolcs.
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake was generated by the movement along the Philippine Fault.
Phivolcs said the aftershocks may not trigger tsunami as they will be of lower magnitudes.
