Romualdez has touching message for Pinoys as 2023 comes to a close

House Speaker Martin Romualdez gave a touching message to Filipinos on New Year's eve as he reflected on 2023, which he described as a "milestone" for the country. 

"As we stand on the threshold of a new year, I find myself reflecting with a heart filled with gratitude and hope on the transformative journey we, the Filipino people, have embarked upon in 2023. This year has been a milestone, a testament to our shared dedication to progress, unity, and service," Romualdez said in a statement Sunday morning, Dec. 31. 

"I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each one of you. Your dedication and commitment to the common good have been the driving force behind this year's legislative successes," he told the Filipino people. 

"Your unwavering efforts have not only shaped policy but also strengthened our democracy. Faced with challenges, you have stood resolute in your commitment to our country and our people," added Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives. 

He said that the Filipino people made "remarkable" achievements in 2023. 

"The commitment and hard work of each of you, as members of our community, have been pivotal in the passage of critical bills, measures, and resolutions addressing the varied needs of our nation. From economic reforms to social initiatives, these efforts have been about improving the lives of every Filipino," noted the House chief. 

Looking forward to 2024, Romualdez asked his coutnyemen to "approach it with a sense of renewed optimism and purpose". 

"The challenges ahead are opportunities for us to innovate, collaborate, and build a nation that echoes the dreams and aspirations of every Filipino," he said.

Romualdez placed supreme faith in President Marcos' ability to lead the country to even greater heights this 2024. 

"I am optimistic about a more prosperous future for our nation under the leadership of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. His vision complements our collective desire for progress, and I believe that together, we will enter an era of growth, stability, and mutual success," he said. 

Romualdez concluded his statement with this: "I wish every Filipino a Happy New Year. May this year bring us closer to realizing our national aspirations. Let's continue to uphold the spirit of unity and service in the days to come. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!"
