Google Philippines has published its annual Year in Search 2023, which compiles the most popular searches for Filipino news, sports, shows, and personalities.

Throughout the year, these top 10 lists document the various events and issues that have caught people's attention.

During the recent announcement in Taguig City, Mervin Wenke, Head of Communications and Public Affairs at Google Philippines, urged Filipinos to remain vigilant online.

"We'd like to encourage everyone to always think first or verify the information that they see online. That's why Google is here," he said.

Korean actor Ahn Bo-hyun has topped the list of most searched male celebrities. He gained attention after news of his relationship with Blackpink member Jisoo surfaced in August. Sadly, the couple broke up after dating for three months.

Ahn Bo-hyun has appeared in various Korean series, such as "Yumi's Cells," "My Name," "See You in My 19th Life," and "Military Prosecutor Doberman."

British actress Katy Louise Saunders has landed the number one spot in the most searched female celebrity category. She gained a lot of attention on the internet after the news broke that she was married and expecting her first child with Korean actor Song Joong Ki.

The couple first met in Italy after Joong Ki finished filming Vincenzo, as reported by the news.

Juan Karlos also made the list, placing 9th in the male personalities category. Juan Karlos is one of the cast on the ABS-CBN's primetime series "Senior High."

Meanwhile, his song "ERE" also made the list which placed 2nd on the song or lyrics category. Earlier this year, the song also made history as the most streamed local track in a day, with over 1.2 million streams on Spotify.

Aside from Juan Karlos, well-known news broadcaster Mike Enriquez and showbiz reporter Mario Dumaual made the list in the Farewell category.

Mario passed away on July 5 at the age of 64, while Mike's death was announced on Aug. 26; he was 71. 

The two have been a pillar of both current affairs and entertainment news.
