TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 and the Bureau of Fire Protection-2 destroyed 2,485 pieces of seized assorted firecrackers worth about P31,121 on December 30.

Police Major Sharon Mallillin, PRO-2 spokesperson, said on Sunday, December 31, that Police Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Birung, Cagayan Valley police chief, led the destruction of these surrendered and confiscated illegal firecrackers.
“The PRO-2 initiated the destruction of the captured illegal firecrackers from the different provinces in the region to evade the possible increase of the firecracker-related injuries in the celebration of New Year’s Eve,” she said.
Destroyed firecrackers were Pla-Pla, Super Lolo, Lolo Thunder, Five Star, Boga, Fountain, Kwitis, Judas Belt, Whistle Bomb, Bawang, Piccolo, One Star, and Dancing Dragon.
Mallillin, hours before New Year’s Eve, advised people in the region to use safe noise-inducing materials or watch the fireworks display in local government unit-designated areas in welcoming 2024.
