An apparently drunk enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sideswiped and injured two commuters along the EDSA Busway in Quezon City.

A video footage of the confrontation among the suspect and the victims was uploaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Facebook on New Year's Eve, Sunday, Dec. 31.

The identities of those involved were not immediately revealed by the DOTr.

According to the DOTr, the accident occurred on the southbound of Main Avenue recently when the speeding suspect hit the two commuters as they were alighting from a bus.

"Lasing pa 'ata to oh, lasing. [Expletive] lasing nga oh. [Expletive] hayop na 'to oh. Oh ayan nakauniporme pa ng MMDA, lasing (This man seems drunk. Son of a bitch he's really drunk. Son of a bitch, this animal. Look at him, he's even wearing a uniform of the MMDA, he's drunk)," a man was heard in a 5:51-minute long video uploaded by the DOTr.

The suspect was seen struggling to maintain his balance while fixing his motorcycle.

"Ayon sa report, nagtamo ng sugat at galos ang dalawang komyuter na nahagip sa mabilis na patakbo nito sa kahabaan ng EDSA Busway sa dahilan na hindi niya alam na babaan at sakayan ito ng mga pasahero (According to a report, the two commuters sustained grazed wounds after being sideswiped by the speeding suspect along the EDSA Busway, who claimed he did not know that the area was a loading and unloading area)," the DOTr said.

The driver and conductor of the bus sought the assistance of an on-duty Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel to pacify the confrontation between the suspect and the victims.

"Bukod sa pagtangging ibigay ang kanyang lisensya sa mga ito, nagawa pang magalit ng enforcer at nagsabing 'wag siyang pag-initan bagkus ay tulungan sa kadahilanan na magkakasama sila sa pagpapatupad ng batas trapiko (Aside from refusing to give his license [to the PCG personnel], the enforcer even got angry and demanded that he should not be picked on since they are both enforcers of traffic rules)," the DOTr added.

The MMDA has yet to issue a statement on the incident.

However, the DOTr said the involved enforcer might face multiple charges.

The DOTr reminded that motorists should observe utmost discipline while on the road to avoid any accident, noting that the law does not discriminate among ordinary citizens and government officers.
