Most parts of the country will likely experience generally fair weather conditions this New Year weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Dec. 30, said.

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil, in the latest weather bulletin, PAGASA sees no weather disturbance that would affect the country in the next 24 hours and during the first days of 2024.
“Wala pa rin tayong binabantayan na Low Pressure Area na maariang makaapekto sa ating bansa bago matapos ang taon na ito at hanggang sa mga unang araw ng taong 2024 (We still do not have any Low Pressure Area being monitored that could affect our country before the end of this year and until the first days of the year 2024),” Villamil said.
Northeast monsoon, easterlies
In its daily weather forecast issued at 4 a.m., PAGASA said that the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon while the easterlies also affect the rest of the country.
The easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean as well as localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said.
The easterlies will also affect the Bicol Region and will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with rains in
Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are also expected in due to the northeast monsoon Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms in areas affected by the easterlies, localized thunderstorms, and the “amihan.”
