University of the Philippines’ CJ Cansino and Francis Lopez returned to Subic Fiesta Carnival to make amends with its workers on Friday, Dec. 29.

A clip of Lopez grabbing the mask of a worker during a roller coaster ride at the carnival resurfaced which was part of a vlog uploaded by Cansino on his YouTube.

Both Fighting Maroons were called out for the incident, particularly Lopez for seemingly disrespecting the worker who was just merely doing his job.

“Our @upmbt captain CJ Cansino and #UAAPSeason86 Rookie of the Year Francis Lopez returned to Subic on Friday to make sure all is well in the Subic Fiesta Carnival and its workers,” the school’s Office for Athletics and Sports Development said on X.

Cansino was the first to offer an apology on his X account, saying he takes full responsibility for what happened and both he and Lopez have then been trying to get in contact with the worker to personally apologize.

In a Facebook post, meanwhile, Lopez expressed his regret as he “inadvertently hurt” the employee and called his actions thoughtless.

UP had another runner-up finish in the recently concluded UAAP men’s basketball after falling to De La Salle Green Archers in their historic finals duel.
