A total of 49 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived in the country on Saturday, Dec 30, from Saudi Arabia as part of the government’s repatriation program, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
DMW officer-in-charge Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said two children were with the 49 OFWs when they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
As part of the OFWs welfare program, Cacdac said the OFWs who arrived in the country were provided P50,000 in financial assistance from the DMW.
“Their overnight hotel accommodations as well as transit and transportation arrangements to their respective home provinces will be shouldered by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA),” said Cacdac.
The OFWs were welcomed by Cacdac and other top officials of the DMW.
The welcome activity was conducted by the DMW in celebration of it's 2nd Founding Anniversary on Saturday.
