Marawi blast: UP calls for unity against violence, extremism
The University of the Philippines (UP) expressed its solidarity with Mindanao State University (MSU) following the explosion incident that left four people dead and dozens injured.

On Sunday, Dec. 3, UP President Angelo Jimenez released a statement in which the university condemned the act of violence against MSU.
The president highlighted that such attacks "go against the principles of peace, understanding, and unity" that should be inviolable in academic institutions.
UP commended MSU authorities' swift and decisive action in ensuring its constituents' safety during this difficult time.

Other state universities nationwide, such as Bicol University and Caraga State University (CSU), also supported UP's stance.
The university also extended its full support and resources to help MSU navigate the aftermath of this painful incident.
Furthermore, the UP called for unity against violence and extremism, urging everyone to build a just and inclusive society.
"Let us all rally against violence and extremism and join in the continuing effort to build a just and inclusive society in our homeland," the statement read.
