Plain and simple terrorism.
That's how House Deputy Minority Leader Basilan lone district Rep. Mujiv Hataman described the deadly bombing at Mindanao State University (MSU) Sunday, Dec. 3, which the solon condemned.
"We condemn in the strongest possible terms the bombing of students holding mass at the Dimaporo Gymnasium in the [MSU ] in Marawi today that according to initial reports left three people dead and several others wounded," he said in a statement.
"This is plain and simple terrorism," added Hataman, who said that the students were merely holding a "peaceful mass".
"Nakikiramay tayo sa mga pamilya ng mga namatay sa insidenteng ito. Hindi dapat nagiging target ng karahasan ang ating mga anak. Hindi battle zone ang ating mga paaralan," said the former governor of the now-defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
(We condole with the victims' families in this incident. Our children shouldn't be the target of violence. Our schools aren't a battleground.)
"I call on the authorities to investigate this fully, leaving no stone unturned. The perpetrators should be unmasked," he said.
