DI-Maute Group sub-leader killed in gunfight

MARAWI CITY – A sub-leader of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group was killed in a gun battle with the military in Barangay Tambo, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur on Sunday, December 3.

The fatality was Alandoni Macadaya Lucsadatu, alias “Lando” and “Abu Shams.”

Recovered in the encounter were assorted firearms and war and propaganda materials.

Operating troops apprehended a certain Saadia Dato Angni, Lucsadatu’s auntie, following the encounter.

No casualty was reported on the government side.

Lucsadatu was a resident of Barangay Old Poblacion, Munai, Lanao del Norte and was one of the remaining sub-leaders of the DI-Maute Group that operates in the boundaries of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

He conducted recruitment among his relatives in Munai and allegedly killed a certain Marow Lucsadato Mocsara, alias “Abu Anggo” and “Abdane,” a DI member who surrendered to the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Barangay Lindongan, Munai on November 9.

Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. William Gonzales commended the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan for neutralizing Lucsadatu.

“As the year is about to end, we are intensifying our operations to ensure the safety and security of the people during this Yuletide season. We are grateful for the support of our stakeholders and the communities that led to our enormous achievements in the campaign against terrorism in our area of operation,” Gonzales said.
