Film director Darryl Yap on his current blind item: 'Hindi ko po papangalanan, duwag po ako'

Director Darryl Yap faced questions about a celebrity blind item he posted on his official Facebook page.

During the grand media conference of his 15th Viva film "Para Kang Papa Mo," held at the Viva Cafe in Cubao last Nov. 29, Darryl shared his thoughts about a celebrity blind item.

"So I get this mga chika, but I cannot name them, tsaka hindi naman ako laging naglalabas ng ganyan, eto lang talagang sobrang detailed, may CCTV, so naintriga lang ako. Pero hindi ko po papangalanan, duwag po ako" he said. 

(So I get this gossip, but I cannot name who gave them; besides, I don't always do things like that. But this one is very detailed, with matching CCTV, so I got intrigued, but I won't name the person because I'm a coward.) 

Darryl made a joke saying that it didn't come from the Hashtags group.

"I am not confirming or denying anything. Basta hindi po hashtags yun, kasi 1m yung eh. Hindi po sumasampa si Nikko sa limang daan," Darryl said. 

( I am not confirming or denying anything. But I guarantee you it's not from the hashtags because it's 1M. Nikko doesn't go for five hundred) 

It can be recalled that the popular movie director posted a blind item about a local celebrity who made a "booking" with an international artist worth P1 million per night.

Many netizens got curious as he dropped more clues on his Facebook posts. Then it got more interesting when the Kapuso actor Kelvin Miranda recently reacted to the blind item. 

On Nov. 28, Kelvin denied the allegations that he was behind the blind item on his Facebook page, stating that Darryl is not angry with him despite online rumors.

"Feeling ko naman, hindi galit yon si Direk Darryl Yap sa akin.Hindi naman siya nag-name drop o nagbigay ng ano… kung ano lang yung binigay niya. Yung mga tao talaga yung nagbigay ng pangalan ko. Hindi ko naman sila kilala, di ba?," Kelvin said during his facebook live. 

(I feel that Director Darryl Yap is not mad at me. He didn't name-drop or give anything; he just gave what he gave. Those people gave me my name. I don't know them, do I?) 

Latest project

Making his way again to the big screen, Darryl will bring a movie that tackles a father's love and dreams for his son.

"Para Kang Papa Mo" stars Mark Anthony Fernandez and Nikko Natividad. At the grand media conference, Nikko shared that playing the role was challenging since it was a drama-comedy film. 

"Nung gagawin ko siya, sabi ko madali lang ito sa akin ito kung magpapatawa lang, nagbabaklabaklaan lang ako, maging parte ng LGBT community, pero nung nabasa ko yung script, drama-comedy siya ehh, so dun ako nachallenge," Nikko said. 

(When preparing for my role, I said it would be easy to make people laugh and be part of the LGBTQ community, but when I read the script, it's a drama-comedy, so I was challenged.) 

During his first collaboration with Nikko, Darryl expressed his passion for acting and his desire to work on bigger projects in the future.

''Nikko is very talented, actually, when the bosses asked kung anong vision for 2024. I said that Nikko deserves more bigger projects in the future. He's very brilliant," he added.

"Para Kang Papa Mo" also features Ruby Ruiz, Jao Mapa, Eric Fructuoso, Rose Van Ginkel, Zeus Collins, Kid Yambao, Julianna Parizcova Segovia, Gehrad Acao. 

"Para Kang Papa Mo" is written and directed by Darryl, showing in cinemas nationwide on Dec. 13.
