'12.12: The Day,' The Boy and the Heron,' 'The Marvels' top November box office in South Korea

The Korean historical movie “12.12: The Day,” “The Boy and the Heron” and “The Marvels” emerged as the top grossing films in November in South Korea. 

The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) released the monthly box office tally for November. 

“12.12: The Day,” released on Nov. 22 starring Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung, is the No. 1 film in November, with 2.95 million in total admissions and $21.3 million in gross.

“12.12” refers to Dec. 12, 1979, the day there was a military coup d'etat in South Korea. As of Dec. 3, the film has sold 4.65 million tickets and grossed $34.28 million. 

The Japanese film “The Boy and the Heron,” released on Oct. 25, placed second with 903,088 in total admissions and $6.81 million in gross in November. 

Released in South Korea on Nov. 8, “The Marvels,” which includes Korean actor Park Seo-jun, placed third with 686,977 in total admissions and gross of $5.24 million.
