PLDT Inc.’s international retail arm PLDT Global Corporation has extended its selection of online shopping and food e-gift vouchers for overseas Filipinos through the Tindahan ni Bossing (TINBO) platform.
Overseas Filipinos, formerly called Overseas Filipino Workers or OFWs can buy Lazada and Shopee e-gift vouchers as gifts for their families back in the Philippines via TINBO.
According to the firm, this can be an alternative to sending balikbayan boxes, noting it as a more practical way, particularly for OFWs to send money to their families to purchase items in online stores.
“This is another way for us at PLDT Global and TINBO to engage with our Filipino communities overseas by providing them with more options to care for their loved ones back home,” said PLDT Global President and CEO Albert V. Villa-Real.
TINBO serves as a digital marketplace that readily connects Filipinos abroad to their families, friends, and peers in the Philippines. Through the app, they can “buy load, send food vouchers, e-gifts, healthcare PINs from Filipino healthcare app mWell, and gaming PINs.”
It is also a secure bills payment platform to pay for Philippine utility dues while outside the country. Customers can get a Smart virtual number via TINBO in order to receive OTOs from e-wallets and Philippine e-banks like PLDT’s fintech firm Maya.
PLDT Global has an existing partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), which allows the firm to completely help Filipinos travelling and living in other countries, and assist their families back home.
Its collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has also enabled its access to OWWA Hotline 1348, with digital services available on TINBO.
PLDT Global has also joined forces with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the Asian Carriers Conference to extend grants to suitable OFWs and provide opportunities to upskill or support businesses back home.
“Our partnership is a gift that has given us the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of OFWs, from providing them with free wifi access at the DMW to awarding upskilling certifications and farming grants, the Filipino community abroad can count on PLDT Global to provide reliable and customized solutions to serve their best interests,” said Villa-Real.
