Around P1.5 million worth of illegal drugs from four abandoned parcels were seized by authorities at the Central Mail Exchange, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City on Friday, Dec. 29.
Combined forces from the Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA (BOC-NAIA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) intercepted the cargoes which were initially declared as sex toys, repair kits, gaming consoles, and merchandise shipment.
The first intercepted parcel was sent by one "Abdul Jakul Sex Toy Company" from Canada to a consignee identified as JC Sarmiento from San Mateo, Rizal, according to BOC-NAIA. It was declared as a sex toy tumbler but upon inspection, it contained 116 grams of marijuana kush, the BOC-NAIA added.
Meanwhile, the second parcel was declared as a cushion repair kit and sent by EOS Upholstery from South El Monte, California, United States to a consignee named Tine Tungpalan of Ilocos Norte, the BOC-NAIA stated. It contained 225 grams of marijuana kush and eight vape cartridges of liquid marijuana, it shared.
The third parcel was declared as a Nintendo Game/PlayStation Game sent by one Cocoy Ortaleza from San Francisco, US and was consigned to a certain Andy Ortaleza of Angeles City, Pampanga, the BOC-NAIA said. It contained 114 grams of suspected shabu, the bureau added.
The last parcel, according to BOC-NAIA, was declared as a merchandise shipment by one Carson Lawrence of Fallon, Missouri, US which was consigned to a certain Mark Truzan, a resident of Leveriza St. Pasay City. It contained 26 vape cartridges of liquid marijuana, and 44 grams of kush or high grade marijuana.
The seized illegal drugs have a total value of P1,594,220 and were turned over by BOC-NAIA to PDEA and NAIA-IADITG for further investigation and proper disposition.
