Muntinlupa mayor tells public to obey ban on firecrackers, open pipes: 'Wag nang matigas ang ulo'
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon urged the people to follow the ban on the use of firecrackers and open pipes and mufflers on motorcycles and other vehicles.
“Wag nang matigas ang ulo, at wag lumabag sa batas. Bawal ang paputok and open muffler/pipe sa Muntinlupa (Don’t be stubborn and don’t violate the law. Firecrackers and open muffler/pipe are prohibited in Muntinlupa),” said Biazon in a Facebook post.

As the New Year celebration neared, the Muntinlupa police, Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau and the Public Order and Safety Office have intensified their operations against firecrackers and open pipes and mufflers to implement two ordinances.
According to the Muntinlupa police, as of 6 a.m. of Dec. 28, a total of 1,151 firecrackers were confiscated in different barangays.
About 160 individuals were apprehended for having open pipes and mufflers in their motorcycles.
Biazon said the open pipe ordinance violators can face fines up to P7,500.
“Hindi worth it; marami pang ibang paraan para magpa-ingay sa New Year nang hindi nakalaabala sa kapwa (It’s not worth it; there are other ways to create noise in the New Year without disturbing other people),” he said.
He said he ordered the strict implementation of the ordinances.
“Gusto nating safe ang maging Bagong Taon natin, kaya sumunod po tayo sa batas (We want to have a safe New Year, so please obey the law),” he said.
