Caloocan Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan on Friday, Dec. 29, instructed the police and other concerned agencies to closely monitor the illegal sale and use of prohibited firecrackers in the city.

Malapitan issued Executive Order (EO) 065-23, instructing the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to strictly enforce the laws and ordinances regulating the sale, manufacture and distribution of firecrackers and pyrotechnics in the city.
The mayor ordered the CCPS to seize prohibited firecrackers such as Atomic Bomb, Super Lolo, and Trianggulo; and apprehend both users and sellers.
The BFP and the CDRRMO have been instructed to promptly respond to any emergencies that may arise during the New Year celebration.
Malapitan also urged the city residents to refrain from using banned firecrackers and instead find alternative, safe and eco-friendly noise makers in welcoming the New Year.
"I appeal to our fellow countrymen to use safer things to illuminate and make noise this New Year," Malapitan said in Filipino.
"Let us remember our families, friends, and neighbors who might be affected because of the use of prohibited firecrackers," he added.
"Salubungin po natin ang unang araw ng 2024 nang ligtas at malayo sa anumang mga aksidente upang maging maganda rin ang pasok sa atin ng buong taon (Let's welcome the first day of 2024 safely and far from any accidents in order to have a good start for the entire year)," Malapitan said.
He advised the citizens to stay vigilant and urged them to reach out to the city's Alert and Monitoring Hotline, 02-888-ALONG (25664), or through mobile at 09167976365 or 09477964372 in case an accident or emergency arises.
