BACOLOD CITY –Six sacks of refilled butane canisters were confiscated by the City Legal Enforcement Team here on Thursday, December 28.
The enforcement team conducted an inspection at Burgos Public Market as part of their intensified campaign against selling of refilled butane canisters, especially this holiday season.

Rey Demisana, head of the enforcement team, said that these canisters were old and refilled with LPG which is dangerous, adding that they are not the same with branded butane canisters that are sealed.
Demisana said that there was minor resistance from some sellers during the confiscation but it was handled peacefully.
He said they have previously conducted operations against this but there are still some who continue to sell them.
Demisana said they have yet to conduct an inventory on the confiscated items, adding that their operation is ongoing in other markets, including satellite markets.
The enforcement team plans to tap the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the disposal of the confiscated butane canisters.
