A pro-health congressman has reminded law enforcers and local officials to strictly implement laws and Palace issuances pertaining to the regulated use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
AnaKalusugan Party-list Rep. Ray Reyes made on Wednesday night, Dec. 28, or just days away from the New Year revelry that traditionally features copious use of fireworks and noise-making items.
Reyes specifically mentioned Republic Act (RA) No.7183 and Executive Order (EO) 28, s. 2017.
The full title of RA No.7183 is "An Act regulating the sale, manufacture and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, and the promotion of health and safety and general welfare of the people, in accordance with Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991."
Meanwhile, EO 28 bans individuals from using firecrackers or setting up their own fireworks displays. It was issued by former president Rodrigo Duterte.
"Napakahalaga po na i-monitor at sugpuin ang paggawa at pagbenta ng mga iligal at ipinagbabawal na paputok,” Reyes said.
(It's very important to monitor and clamp down on the manufacture and sale of illegal and banned firecrackers.)
"Umaasa po tayo na sa pangunguna ng kapulisan at ng mga LGUs (local government units), masisiguro natin ang kaligtasan ng lahat, lalo na ng mga kabataan," he added.
(We hope that through the efforts of the police and the LGUs, we can ensure the safety of everyone, especially the youth.)
Reyes is a neophyte member of the House of Representatives.
