MSU bombing victims receive cash, in-kind aid from DSWD
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its field offices in Mindanao, provided various types of assistance to families and individuals affected by the bombing at the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City on Dec. 3.
In his report to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Thursday, Dec. 28, DSWD-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Ramel Jamen said the field office has distributed P870,000 in financial aid to at least 131 survivors through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Jamen added that five people received AICS totaling P25,000 from DSWD Field Office-12 (Soccsksargen), and two survivors received non-food items from DSWD Field Office-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) worth P3,000.
“The DSWD Field Offices in Mindanao have been coordinating consistently with concerned local government units to ensure that all individuals affected by the incident will sufficiently receive the necessary interventions from the government,” DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said.
In addition to the DSWD assistance, the Iligan city government offered psychosocial intervention to 659 individuals in order to assist them in managing the aftermath of the traumatic event.
Dumlao assured that the DSWD's Mindanao field offices will continue to monitor the situation of the blast survivors in order to provide any additional services deemed necessary.
