The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warned the public on Thursday, Dec. 28 against a circulating announcement purportedly from the agency that it would provide a "New Year's gift" to those who will simply fill out a survey questionnaire.
“Don't be fooled! The link circulating on Messenger that the DSWD is distributing New Year's gifts by simply answering a survey questionnaire is not true,” the DSWD said in Filipino in a post on its official social media page.
“Do not be fooled by posts or links if they are not from the official DSWD Facebook page,” it added.
It reminded the public to be careful when clicking or opening links on posts by unverified accounts, and urged them to report it immediately using the report option on social media sites to stop spreading false information.
To be updated on DSWD’s programs, the public is encouraged to visit its official website dswd.gov.ph and follow their official Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube accounts @dswdserves, and Instagram account @dswdphilippines.
It advised the public to be cautious and double-check any information they find online.
Do not simply believe content that does not come from credible and reliable sources, it said.
