A 23-year-old woman from Largo, Florida, USA, was shot and killed by her 14-year-old brother, who was also shot by his 15-year-old brother after a verbal argument over Christmas presents became deadly on Dec. 24, the Pinellas County Sherif's Office said.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Abrielle Baldwin, was shot in her chest while holding her 11-month-old baby in a carrier by her younger brother after coming home from Christmas shopping with their mother.
The police said the suspect was fighting with his 15-year-old brother when Abrielle stepped in to mediate. The suspect then told her that he will shoot her and her baby.
Shortly after Abrielle's shooting, the 15-year-old pulled out his own gun and shot his younger brother for shooting their sister. He then fled the house and threw his firearm into a nearby yard.
Both the victim and her 14-year-old brother were rushed to the hospital where Abrielle was pronounced dead on arrival while her brother is in stable condition after receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, their 15-year-old brother contacted their mother to tell her about the incident.
The police located him and was brought to a mental health facility due to self-harm statements. He will then be transferred to the custody of the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center once he is released.
The police said the 14-year-old brother was charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and for possessing a firearm as a delinquent, while his 15-year-old brother was charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
