ILOILO CITY – Roxas City, the capital of Capiz province, was named as one of the country’s “Tastiest Travel Destinations” by travel booking website Agoda.
Dubbed as the “Seafood Capital,” Agoda picked Roxas due to its fresh oysters and squid as well as a wide selection of dried fish.
Agoda also cited the Palina Greenbelt Eco Park where people can enjoy freshly cooked seafood while cruising on a river onboard a floating cottage. This river tour also gives visitors a chance to appreciate an eco-tourism program managed by the community.

The travel booking website also recommended the Maragtas Street Food Market which is held every Friday.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro welcomed Agoda’s inclusion of Roxas City as a tasty travel destination.
“Food trip ang napangita ninyo? Kadto kamo sa Roxas, kaon ta! (Want to have a food trip? Come to Roxas. Let’s eat!),” said Dadivas in his official Facebook page.
Launched in June 2023, the Maragtas Street Food Market is an initiative of the Capiz Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office under the Castro administration.
The Maragtas Street Food Market enhances and boosts tourism by preserving the province's culinary heritage through Filipino street food such as “balut” (fertilized duck egg) and pork and chicken barbecue as well as new versions of empanada, turon, and lumpia.
Davao City and Angeles City, Pampanga were the two other cities named in Agoda’s culinary destinations in the country.
Agoda also recommended to visitors a heritage tour of the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral and the Capiz Provincial Capitol.
