QC gov't extends free bus service for New Year countdown at QMC
The Quezon City government has announced that it will extend the operations of its Q City Buses to provide free transportation to those who will join the city's New Year countdown event on Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
The city government said the New Year festivities will be from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m.
The event will feature several celebrities including Vice Ganda, Allan K, Tuesday Vargas, Boobay and Tekla, Uma, singers, rap artists, and bands that will perform song numbers as they wait for the countdown. The event is open to the public for free.
A fireworks display will also be featured.
The city government said the operations of the free Q City Buses in seven city routes will be extended until 2 a.m. on Monday so that those who will attend the countdown will have a hassle-free travel going to the venue and back to their homes.
The routes include Quezon City Hall (Kalayaan Ave.) - Cubao; Quezon City Hall (NHA)- IBP/Litex; Quezon City Hall (NHA) - General Luis; Quezon City Hall (NHA) - Mindanao Ave. via Visayas Ave; Quezon City Hall (NHA) - Gilmore Ave; Quezon City Hall (NHA) - C5 / Ortigas Ave. Ext.; and Quezon City Hall (NHA) - Muñoz.
The city government also advised motorists to take alternative routes as the slow movement of vehicles along Elliptical Road is expected on Sunday.
It added that personnel of the Traffic and Transport Management Department and the Department of Public Order and Safety will coordinate to manage the traffic flow in the area.
