According to the Philippine Sports Commission's (PSC) medal tallies, Pasig City got the first place in the PNG with 42 gold, 39 silver and 47 bronze medals. Meanwhile, the city ranked 2nd in the Batang Pinoy games with 57 gold, 56 silver and 59 bronze medals.

"Congrats to our athletes, coaches, and staff who worked hard to get these results. This only inspires us to even further improve our grassroots sports program," Sotto said.

The city government had earlier held a solidarity meeting for athletes and participants of the Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games as its way of showing support and recognition to the youth in achieving their dreams through sports.

Sotto said around 2,300 delegates from different parts of the country were warmly welcomed during the event held at the Rizal High School Gym.

The Philippine National Games, officially known as the POC-PSC Games, is a national multi-sport tournament in the country created to determine the possible composition of the national pool of athletes that will compete in international tournaments such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.

It was created on March 3, 1994 by virtue of Executive Order No. 163 during the term of former President Fidel Ramos.
