Motorcycle rider killed in Christmas Eve crash

BACOLOD CITY – A motorcycle rider died after he was run over by a garbage truck on Araneta Ave. in Barangay Tangub here on Christmas Eve.

Police identified the victim as Jessie Celedonio, 29, of Barangay Pahanocoy, this city.

Police Capt. Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said the victim was tailing then overtook the dump truck.

However, there was an oncoming water tank and tried to return to his lane, but he was hit by the truck, Mercado said.

The victim was on his way home when the accident happened, according to Mercado.

Mercado said the victim sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

He said that the victim’s family and the truck driver have reached a settlement.
