Farmer mauled to death in Quezon

TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon – A 27-year-old farmer was allegedly mauled to death by his neighbor in Sitio Looban, Barangay Mansilay, this municipality, on Tuesday night, December 26.

Police identified the victim as Ginard Caña of Sitio Looban.

Investigation said Caña was in front of the house of the suspect, Michael, 41, when a heated altercation between them erupted.

It resulted into a fist fight where the victim sustained serious injuries. Caña was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Michael surrendered to barangay officials who turned him over to the police who apprised him of his constitutional rights under the Anti-Torture Act Law of 2009.

Police have filed a homicide case against the suspect.
