CSC considers civil servants as ‘modern-day’ heroes

Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles expressed appreciation for the dedication and heroism of civil servants who continue to serve with passion and integrity despite adversity.

Nograles noted in his year-end message to government officials and employees how government employees from various fields weathered every crisis with the resilient and enduring spirit that defines Filipinos.

“Mula sa mga healthcare workers na nagtatrabaho nang walang kapaguran upang magligtas ng mga buhay, sa mga guro na nagmumulat ng kaisipan ng mga kabataan, sa mga inhinyero na nagtatayo ng mga tulay na nagdadala sa atin nang mas malapit sa isa’t isa, at sa mga social workers na nagbibigay gabay sa mga komunidad (From healthcare workers who work tirelessly to save lives, to teachers who inspire the minds of young people, to engineers who build bridges that bring us closer together, and to social workers who provide guidance to communities)—each one of them embodies what it truly means to be a ‘lingkod bayani’ (servant-hero),” Nograles said.

“Amidst the disruptions brought by social, political, and environmental issues, civil servants serve as the anchors of stability, the engines of progress, and the symbol of continuity in a world of many uncertainties,” he added.

Nograles also urged the country’s 1.9 million civil servants to celebrate the Christmas season and the coming New Year by not only hosting joyous events but also by upholding their moral duty to improve the lives of those who are less fortunate.

He remains optimistic that workers in the public sector will carry on a legacy of excellent governance for future generations by doing their jobs with excellence, integrity, and love for their country.

“In this season of giving, let our greatest gift be the unwavering strength of our community, shining its light brightly for all to see. As we turn the page to a new year, let us embrace the promise of renewal. Let us commit to building a Philippines where compassion reigns, where every Filipino thrives, and where the light of public service shines ever brighter,” Nograles said.
