Rains from 'amihan', easterlies to persist in parts of PH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Dec. 26 said the northeast monsoon and easterlies may continue to bring rainy weather to parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.
Cloudy and rainy weather may also persist in the Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Aurora, and Quezon due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”
PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, the rest of the Bicol region, and Palawan will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light monsoon rains.
