The DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Guimbal conducted the inventory as part of the preparation for a foreign-assisted livelihood project of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO).
To be known as the “Improved livelihood through increased income for Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP); Modeling scalable community-based enterprises in Asia,” it will be implemented in more than 3,400 hectares in three barangays – Dagami, Bolo, and Trangka.
Areas covered by the inventory are within the Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMS) areas under the management of the Katilingban sang Pumuluyo nga Naga-Atipan sa Watershed Inc. or KAPAWA-Maasin Inc.
According to CENRO-Guimbal, the inventory will continue until the entire target area is achieved.
The consolidated data will guide future reforestation and conservation efforts and programs that will involve the communities in the area. The inventory will also strengthen ecological resilience in the region.
